This unique and intense summer course from May 19 to May 31, 2025, introduces you to China, its culture, history, and prospects for the future, all with a business focus.
The China Studies program includes a 12-day journey to China and completion of the 3-credit undergraduate and graduate university course MGT-446/MBA-646: China Studies.
The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students and others, including alumni, spouses and friends.
You will land in Shanghai, the Paris of the East, and spend four days in this remarkable city.
Next, you will spend eight days in Beijing and learn about Chinese culture, language, history, business operations, and management style and will be briefed by managers of companies such as Moog of East Aurora, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, OCBC Bank in Shanghai, Devries Global, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, and Messe-Frankfurt, as well as by representatives of the commercial attache of the U.S. Embassy in China, and Shanghai National Exposition and Convention Center.
Briefings, lectures, visits and more
This 12-day experience is filled with every opportunity to discover China. There are briefings and lectures in which you may ask questions to learn more about the nation, its people, and what it offers as a market.
In addition, there will be cultural visits to the new Pudong area of Shanghai and to many historical sites in Beijing, such as the Great Wall, Ti’ananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven.

so no knowledge of the Chinese language is required

Accommodations, preparations, cost and payments
Your accommodations will be in fine Western-style hotels. Students will be housed two to a room.
The total cost is $6,600, which includes tuition, hotels, all airfare from and to Buffalo Niagara International Airport, and a Western breakfast daily.
A $1,500 deposit is required by January 3, 2025.

Program material will be forwarded weekly during the spring semester for your required reading. There will also be a meeting at St. Bonaventure University in February in which the China visa applications will be completed and final student preparations will be made. Please note that there will be a fee (estimated at $250) to process the Chinese visa application and students are required to purchase travel insurance (likely less than $150).

Competitive scholarship available
One $1,000 competitive, need-based scholarship is available for MGT-446 undergraduates with their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the Financial Aid Office at St.
Bonaventure University.
